Inch by Inch ~ Words of Wisdom

One of my favorite sayings is "By the inch it's a cinch, by the yard it is hard."  It has helped me thru many a goal as it reminds me to break it down into manageable steps and it will be much easier.

I have also found it true when it comes to earning and saving money.  Two personal experiences are earning extra cash thru Swagbucks and paying off our home mortgage early.

Earning a Little Extra Cash Inch by Inch

Swagbucks is an online earning site that rewards members points called SB for different activities.  By the hour it is a horrible income, but by spending some spare time and working on it while I do other things (like typing this post, folding laundry, working in the kitchen, eating meals) It's a Cinch to earn $25 to $50 extra dollars each
month with very little effort.  Over the years I have been able to give more to others, shop for Christmas gifts, buy groceries and other items by inching my way thru earning on Swagbucks.  If you'd like to learn more about Swagbucks click on this link:  Swagbucks How to Earn Series ~ Our Favorite Site to Earn Cash and Gift Cards.

Paying off Home Mortgage Early Dollar by Dollar

When looking at our HUGE home mortgage it seemed impossible to ever pay it off and by the yard it would have been, but we took the inch by inch route and did indeed pay it off several years early.  I decided I would start with what I had and try to find more cash to apply each month.  I had six dollars!  Quite a minuscule amount in comparison to the tens of thousands we owed.  But I put it on and began searching for more cash to apply.  Thru clipping coupons, using gifts and cutting out other spending we were able to reach our goal of being mortgage free several years early even tho many months we applied under $25 extra.  The beauty of paying off extra each month is the interest owed is reduced each month making more of each normal payment go towards the principal owed -- another inch by inch advantage which made adding the small amounts worth it.

So the next time you look at a huge bill or wish you had a little extra spending money, break it down into small increments and begin.  It will be a lot easier to reach your goal!
