Often children being sent to foster care have nothing of their own.  Kristy at Hopeful Threads began a project to provide a stuffed animal to many of these children in her corner of Tennessee.  Kristy is an avid seamstress who has sewn hundreds of stuffies for these children.  She does a yearly collection of stuffed friends for kids in the foster system -- both hand made and purchased.  Not only does she reach out to hundreds of kids thru her fluff project, but she has been a foster mom and has adopted kids from the foster system.

A great resource for high quality, larger stuffed friends is Kohl's Cares Toys.  They are just $5 each and many times they are on clearance for $3.50!  I have purchased these in the past and have been very pleased.  And an added bonus is Kohl's donates "100% of the net profits...to support children's initiatives nationwide.  Nearly $300 million has been raised since 2000."  You can order online and have them shipped directly to the Fluff Project.

If you'd like to join Kristy in sharing Hope with these children you can send sewn or stuffed animals to her Fluff Project or you can find out how to share with the kids in foster care in your own town.  Just think how many hugs a child can receive from a stuffed friend!
